Big crowd for the opening session: 5,800 spectators in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle on Wednesday afternoon

Stuttgart – It can only happen in Stuttgart. When the dressage class for the Prize of iWEST marked the start of the 28th International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show on Wednesday afternoon, 5,800 spectators filled the stands in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. They were then thrilled by the two jumping competitions for riders from the local state of Baden Württemberg.

For starters, Hendrik Lochthowe from Munich riding the nine-year-old mare U.S. Latina took the win in the Prize of iWEST, a dressage class for class S Intermediaire I (1320 points/69.474 per cent). Just behind (1304/68.632) in second was Tina von Block on the 12-year-old stallion Lautrec whilst Riana Mauersberger from nearby Steinenbronn came third riding her ten-year-old Oldenburg mare Daily Discovery (1299/68.368).

The final for the NÜRNBERGER Burg Cup for Baden Württemberg juniors – a class M style jumping with a jump-off – was also won by a rider from the Stuttgart area. Riding the nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding Dublin, Hanna Bader from Waldenbuch recorded the fastest time in the jump-off when going clear in 33.48 seconds. Sören Dehner on the ten-year-old Holstein stallion Costimex (0/34.57) and Kathrin Schmidt on her nine-year-old Holstein-bred grey mare Quality Girl (0/34.93) followed in second and third respectively.

In the opening class for Baden Württemberg riders for the Prize of Schwenkel HC Reitsport GmbH – sports gloves, victory went to the Rumanian Andy Candin. Riding for a local club, he saddled his ten-year-old Holstein grey gelding Caruso to a clear round in 59.92 seconds and was the only rider to go under a minute. Back in second was Rossen Raytchev, who last year won the BW-Bank Indoor Championship, on the 15-year-old Holstein gelding Capoccino. Also competing for a club in the region he went clear in 62.13 seconds. Third was Sven Schlüsselburg and Savanna, a ten-year-old Holstein grey mare. The pair left all the fences standing but in a time of 63.93 seconds.
