Comfortable win for Kristina Sprehe in Piaff-Förderpreis

Stuttgart – The penultimate ride in the ring prevented a one-two and therefore a repeat of last year’s result. Kristina Sprehe comfortably won the final of the Piaff-Förderpreis for German U-25 riders on Friday afternoon. She presented her 10-year-old Hanoverian stallion Desperados and was awarded 1,734 points (73.787 per cent). “Today the passages and piaffes were far better,” said the 25-year-old economics student. Her coach Jürgen Koschel, who is also the national U-25 coach, added “Today, she put into practice the things we spoke about yesterday. And with a lot of feel. The piaffe-passage tour was world class!” Kristina Sprehe previously won the final of the Piaff-Förderpreis two years ago in 2009.

“I’m very hopeful and happy to have such a pair,” said national coach Holger Schmezer when talking about the prospects for the (dressage)future. “We’ll plan Desperados’ competition schedule for next year together.” The stallion is also at stud, “but dressage comes first,” said Jürgen Koschel.

Equal second in the Prize of the Liselott und Klaus Rheinberger Stiftung were Kirsten Sieber and Annabel Frenzen who both scored 1,562 Punkte (66.468 per cent). Kirsten Sieber saddled Charly WRT, a 13-year-old Holstein gelding. Annabel Frenzen rode Cristobal, a 12-year-old Holstein gelding.
