Isabell Werth adds a tenth GERMAN DRESSAGE MASTER

Jubilee for Isabell Werth: the German won the GERMAN DRESSAGE MASTER for the tenth time on Sunday morning. In front of 4,700 spectators in Stuttgart’s Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle, the multiple Olympic, world and European champion placed first atop the 11-year old Don Johnson FRH after scoring 77.333 per cent to secure the 7,200 euro purse that goes with the Prize of the life style label SOCCX. The recently crowned team European champion from Herning praised her Hanoverian gelding: “I’m very pleased at the way he got over the little irritations. It shows he’s slowly maturing.” Isabell Werth then summed up her overall performance in Stuttgart by saying, “ Both horses have shown their class and confirmed their form. Stuttgart was a highlight.” Aboard El Santo NRW, she came second in the World Cup freestyle on Saturday.

Back in second was Ulla Salzgeber (Germany) in the saddle on Herzruf’s Erbe. The 14-year old gelding, which was bred in Rhineland, has returned from a 13-month competitive break and was awarded 76.854 per cent. The Swiss Marcela Krinke Susmelj and her 12-year old gelding Smeyers Molberg finished third (74.688).

Gotthilf Riexinger, the Director of the 29th International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, was also pleased for the happy winner: “It was a fantastic ride.” And then posed the rhetorical question: “What would Stuttgart be without Isabell?”
