Martin Schaudt’s second triumph – KAMPMANN GERMAN MASTER victory

(acm/mps) Martin Schaudt’s (Germany) successful performance on his eleven-year-old Hanoverian gelding Weltall VA repeated last year’s Grand Prix Special win at the 21st International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show on Sunday morning. The jury awarded the 1996 and 2004 Team Olympic Champion’s ride 1,939 points or 77.56 per cent which gave the German his second KAMPMANN GERMAN MASTER title and 7,200 Euros in prize money.

Twelve points behind the winner was German champion and Team European Champion Heike Kemmer on Bonaparte. She had to be content with second place and 6,100 Euros in front of 4,800 spectators in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. Third was Isabell Werth (Germany) on Satchmo, who amassed 1,921 points.

“For me, its really important that things remain interesting. And things are always interesting with Weltall. There’s ups and downs but as long as go back up again then I’m happy,” explained the smiling winner shortly afterwards and highly praised his gelding in spite of the occasional fluctuation. “Today just shows, as it generally does, I’ve got, for me, the best horse in the world. When he’s in form, he can beat every other horse in the world and that makes me very happy.” Heinrich Kampmann, head of the title sponsor of the KAMPMANN GERMAN MASTER and Kampmann Cup, which counts as a qualifying competition for the Stuttgart Grand Prix Special was also visibly satisfied: “I can only congratulate Martin Schaudt and I believe we have witnessed outstanding dressage here over the past three days. I’m surprised by the extraordinarily good spectator resonance.”
