(acm/mps) For a while it appeared as if she would completely outclass the opposition, but in the end it was a close run thing. Sixth to go from 10 starters in the second round of the DIW Instandhaltung LADIES GERMAN MASTER, Mylene Diederichsmeier (Germany) put in a dream ride when going clear in 51.37 seconds.

The 28-year-old 2002 German Champion was a first time winner when securing the title and prize money amounting to 5,000 Euro. Whilst nine of the ten riders remained faultless in the first round of the traditional jumping competition for female riders at the 21st International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show, their numbers thinned out quickly in the second. Only Nicole Shahinian-Simpson (USA) on Aktion Pur (60.79 seconds) – she placed fourth in the final standings – and World Cup winner Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (Germany), who eventually came third on Le Mans in a time of 59.10 seconds, were able to go clear prior to Diederichsmeier’s ride. But then the final rider went into the arena and things again became very tense for the 6,500 spectators in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. The Swiss Christina Liebherr, who was born in Stuttgart, also made no mistakes on Tamina and came within a whisker of beating the German’s time. Twenty seven hundredths separated them in the end. The two-time European Championships silver medallist in San Patrignano received 3,500 Euro in prize money for her second place.

“I think we’ve got a very happy winner here. Though she’s already gained many excellent placings in Stuttgart, today’s win in the LADIES GERMAN MASTER was her first in the competition,” said horse show Director Gotthilf Riexinger, when congratulating Mylene Diederichsmeier. He praised her as being a young, committed and outstandingly stylish woman rider. The smiling winner also attached special importance to her achievement: ”The win makes me really happy, especially on my Konni, who was injured for such a long time and who has now made a comeback. To win in Stuttgart at such a fantastic show is something special.”
