World record! – Isabell Werth and Satchmo breaks Grand Prix best

(acm/mps) It really was a dream ride – Isabell Werth from Germany and her eleven-year-old Hanoverian colt added a new dimension to Grand Prix level dressage riding. 1,919 points, 79.958 per cent was the evaluation made by the international judges for the four-time Olympic Champion’s ride in the Stihl Trophy at the 21st International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show. A new world record!

Visibly moved and touched at the victory ceremony Werth said, “I’m simply unbelievably happy. It doesn’t matter what happens now. Satchmo showed that we were right to believe in him. It’s simply fantastic.” The 36-year-old had thus broken the previous world record also set in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle by Martin Schaudt. Riding Weltall VA last year, the German improved the record to 78.583 per cent. World Champion Nadine Capellmann (Germany) on Elvis VA took second place in the Stihl Trophy. The judges awarded her 76.917 per cent and the performance led to her being called up to the Championship Squad by the German Olympic Equestrian Committee’s dressage council. In third place was Martin Schaudt on Weltall VA with 75.708 per cent.
