Edwina Tops-Alexander, the world’s top woman rider, on Stuttgart: “It’s the world’s best indoor horse show!”

Stuttgart – Edwina Tops-Alexander heaped great praise on the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS: “It’s the world’s best indoor horse show, a fantastic atmosphere and a great crowd!” The 37-year-old Australian is competing in the Hanns Martin Schleyer Halle “for the fifth or sixth time in a row” and confirmed that the “organisation is wonderful and there’s an excellent ground.” Smiling she continued, “and it’s nice and warm inside.”

Currently world ranked No. 6 and the world’s top lady rider since the end of 2009, she finished fourth in the individual world championship at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen as Edwina Alexander. Additionally, she is momentarily the top prize money winner and heads the rankings for the Global Champions Tour prior to the concluding round in Abu Dhabi one week after the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS. Mid-September she married the former world class rider Jan Tops (Netherlands) – the 1991 European Team Champion and 1992 Olympic Team Champion – in Monaco. “I still haven’t got used to my new name of Tops-Alexander,” she admitted with a big smile on her face. In 2011, she has won, amongst others, the Grand Prixs in Cannes, Chantilly and Rio de Janeiro. For her too, the big goal for the coming year is the Olympic Games in London. She placed ninth in both the individual and team competitions at the 2008 Games in Hong Kong.
