Nicole Casper wins the final of the iWEST Dressage Cup – “But I was pretty nervous!”

Stuttgart – Second competition, second win. After her success in the opening class at the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS on Wednesday, the 42-year-old Nicole Casper also triumphed in the final of the iWest Dressage Cup – the unofficial state indoor championships – in front of 2,400 spectators in the Hanns Martin Schleyer Halle on Thursday. Summing up, she said, “I put together a very difficult freestyle,” before adding self-critically “Today I didn’t quite support my horse as well as I’ve done at times at home.” She also admitted: “I was pretty nervous, but you have to ride your ride. The freestyle has been put together, the tempo is specified.”

In scoring 74.100 points she and her eight-year-old gelding Wallach Birkhof’s Dave FBW beat “insider’s tip” Sabina Schrödter on San Hallo, a nine-year-old Oldenburg gelding – the pair were given 73.600 points. Third was Susann Konrad riding FBW Moses (71.050). Born in the state of Saarland, Nicole Casper has been responsible for dressage schooling at the Gestüt Birkhof stud and competes for the LPSV Donzdorf Alb/Fils club.

Gerhard Meyer from the title sponsor iWEST congratulated Nicole Casper on her win and enthused: ”The Udo Jürgens medley was simply fantastic.” And then he went on to announce, “We’ll be continuing as sponsors next year too.” After congratulating the winner (“It was tight but a win is a win!”) Horse Show Director Gotthilf Riexinger named the venues for the qualifying competitions for the 2012 iWEST Cups: “Nußloch, Heroldsberg - for the first time a venue in Bavaria - Ludwigsburg and Göppingen.“
