Quickest in the Stuttgart “bush” – Realini wins Indoor Derby

(acm/mps) Some say the Swiss go about life little slower than others. That this is simply not the case was proved so impressively on Wednesday evening by Tiziana Realini in the Prize of Biodiesel Süd GmbH, the eventer’s indoor derby at the 22nd International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show.

Riding the 11-year-old gelding Glamour CH, the 22-year old managed to go around the enormous natural fences in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in 86.92 seconds. In doing so, she became the first foreign rider to secure victory in the competition. Something that shows that indoor eventing, which enjoyed its baptism in Stuttgart in 2002, is becoming more and more firmly established internationally. The Swiss woman’s pulsating ride around the course, which literally went over a whole lorry, relegated two-time German champion Bodo Battenberg on Mr. Mac (87.65 seconds) and Peter Thomsen on Bordou (87.70) to the placings. When winning the fifth edition of the Indoor Derby, the Swiss Champion enjoyed not only the frenetic applause of the excited spectators but also prize money totalling a not inconsiderable 1,900 euro.
