It’s now half a dozen: a brilliant ride at the 29th International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show late on Wednesday evening has secured the double Olympic champion Michael Jung from nearby Horb the win in the Indoor Derby for the Prize of WALTER solar. In completing the course in 78.79 seconds in front of a sell-out 8,000 crowd, the local hero beat the previous fastest time of 80.32 set by his countryman Andreas Ostholt by almost one and a half seconds. Despite knocking a fence down, he got his nine-year old mare fischerRocana FST to race around the course at breathtaking speed to finish a convincing winner.

The 31-year-old had previously won in 2005 and from 2007 to 2010 and now in the 12th edition of the eventing class in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle, he has chalked up his sixth success. Earlier on at the start of the evening, “Michi” Jung took the top prize of a Mercedes-Benz A 180 in the Jump and Drive competition.
Third behind Ostholt, who was atop the already 19-year old Oldenburg gelding Castel, was the New Zealander Bruce Haskell and his grey gelding Kiwi Smog. The 43-year old went round in 79.37 seconds but was given four penalty points to give him an overall time of 83.37 seconds.
