Driving
When the four-in-hand drivers race around the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle, then all hell breaks loose. The two classes have had a top-notch line-up year in, year out. Australia’s Boyd Exell has celebrated nine wins in Stuttgart since 2009, the last one came in 2023. His biggest rival is Ijsbrand Chardon (The Netherlands) who won the FEI World Cup class in 2007, 2016 and 2018. The last German win was claimed in 2013 by Daniel Schneiders. Countryman Michael Freund dominated the four-in-hand events from 1994 to 2006. And driving has been no longer a men-only domain for a while now – something that was shown by Germany’s Mareike Harm in Stuttgart in 2019. The 32-year-old was the first woman to take the four-in-hand reins at the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTER.
