Stuttgart – Two classes, two wins. After his success on the opening day – Wednesday – of the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, German Hendrik Lochthowe, who was born in the Westphalia region, won the final of the iWEST Dressage Cup in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle on Thursday. Now living in Munich, the 33-year-old was given 73.550 points for his ride on the nine-year-old mare U.S. Latina. The unofficial Baden Württemberg championship has therefore been turned into a combined Baden Württemberg and Bavaria championship. “I was very pleased with my two rides,” commented Hendrik Lochthowe, a qualified stable manager, “and there’s even room for improvement.”
In second place in front of 2,500 spectators was Riana Mauersberger. The local rider from Steinenbronn, who finished third on Wednesday, saddled her mare Daily Discovery to 72.400 points. At the victory ceremony the graduate of business administration was doubly pleased as she was given the “Goldene Reitabzeichen” (the golden riding badge) by the horse show director Gotthilf Riexinger. After coming second yesterday, Tina von Block and the 12-year-old stallion Lautrec, which was bred in Bavaria, today placed third with 71.500 points.
Speaking on behalf of the title sponsor iWEST, Gerhard Meyer thanked all riders and participants in the series and was pleased that the “standard is getting better from year to year.” Looking ahead, he said, “iWEST will be celebrating its tenth anniversary next year.” Gotthilf Riexinger then announced the venues for the qualifying competitions in 2013 – namely Nussloch (18/19 May), Ludwigsburg (8/9 June), Heroldsberg (26-28 July) and Göppingen (5/6 October). The final with the top ten will once again be held in Stuttgart’s Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle.
