Stuttgart – The dressage Grand Prix for the Prize of the Stihl at the 26th International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show ended in a narrow win for Victoria Max-Theurer. Early on Saturday, she secured the win, and 2,500 euro prize money, in the qualifying class for Sunday morning’s Grand Prix Special after scoring 75.149 per cent. The Austrian saddled her own-bred ten-year-old Oldenburg stallion Augustin that carried her to the individual fifth place at the 2009 European Championships in Windsor.
Second place went to Germany’s “Dressage Queen” Isabell Werth. Riding the nine-year-old gelding El Santo NRW, her performance was awarded 74.851 per cent by the international jury made up of judges from Great Britain, Mexico, USA, and Germany. Isabell Werth’s ride on her up-and-coming horse earned her 2,000 euro. Third was Edward Gal (Netherlands), the three-time World Champion in Lexington, on the 11-year-old mare Sisther de Jeu (73.234). Behind him in fourth was Hubertus Schmidt (Germany) on Donnelly (72.298). Last year’s winner Laura Bechtolsheimer and her stallion Andretti finished the competition in sixth (70.766) one down on the Italian Carabiniere Valentina Truppa and Eremo del Castegno (72.085).
