Andy Witzemann bags the BW-Bank Indoor Championship

Stuttgart – Thursday evening’s action at the 33rd International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show was watched by an excellent 7,100 crowd in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. Earlier on in the day, there were 2,600 equestrian fans in the stands for the two dressage and two jumping classes. The evening’s highlight was the BW-Bank Indoor Championship. To take part in the unofficial state championship under a roof, riders first had to qualify at four different horse shows in summer. In the end, 26 participants earned the right to compete in the final.

In the saddle on the nine-year old Hanoverian gelding Prinz in the ten-rider jump-off, Andy Witzemann from nearby Winterlingen left his rivals trailing in his wake when going clear in a highly impressive 39.57 seconds. Third last year, it was all the more pleasing for the victor. “I was hoping things would work out this time around. After all, I’ve already placed in the top three. This year Prinz jumped incredibly well.” Stefan Schütz from the BW-Bank was also excited by the performance: “On the top of the horse is somebody that wants to go for it.” After a faultless ride in 40,69 seconds, Tina Deuerer came second ahead of Barbara Steurer-Collee (44,78). Fourth-placed Mario Walter had one fence down in 41.13 seconds.
