Riding the nine-year old Belgian bred mare Kiana van het Herdershof, the team bronze medal winner at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro pipped runner-up Luciana Diniz (Portugal) by nine hundredth of a second in the Prize of the XXL-Sicherheit. Deußer left all the fences standing when crossing the finishing line in a time of 66.34 seconds– the Brazilian-born rider needed 66.43 seconds. The Hanoverian mare Fit For Fun also completed the course without any faults. Third place went to the British rider Emily Moffitt (21) in the saddle on the 14-year old stallion Copain du Perchet CH (0/66.69).
The second qualifying class – the Prize of ARAGON Robotics – for the MERCEDES GERMAN MASTER is on Friday at 17.15 hours local time. Only the top twelve riders from the two qualifying competitions will then go on to contest the MERCEDES GERMAN MASTER at 22:15 hours – Daniel Deußer therefore has a very good chance of being in the mix.
