Schill four hundredth to the good of Schäfer

Stuttgart – Twenty-fifth after the four qualifying events, he only just booked a ticket for the class in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. On Wednesday, the first day of the 37th International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, Alexander Schill won the BW-Bank Indoor Championship warm-up competition for the Prize of Schmidt Sporthandschuhe GmbH after a clear round (0/62.58 seconds). It was four hundredth quicker than Armin Schäfer (0/62.62).

The 39-year-old, who won the unofficial indoor championship for riders from the state of Baden Württemberg in 2006, was atop Chelsea Gravelotte, an 11-year-old mare bred in France. Schäfer (43) was also successful in the BW-Bank Championship when winning in 1999. Now on the ten-year-old chestnut gelding Costa Gavras, he placed just ahead of Hans-Dieter Dreher with his grey mare Jiniki (0/62.79).

The final of the NÜRNBERGER Burg Cup for Baden-Württemberg’s juniors – a class M* style jumping – was won by Lenny Maier on the eight-year-old Westphalian mare Antonia. Going clear in the jump-off, she also clocked the fastest time (38.42 seconds). Second place went to Mia Sophie Hauß and Epona who also posted a clear round, but in 40.09 seconds. They relegated Milena Zorn and the nine-year-old gelding Stakkato’s boy into third.

In the day’s opening class, Franz Trischberger won the dressage Intermediaire I for the Prize of iWEST on Sarotti N (1.380 per cent points) before last year’s winner Moritz Treffinger (1.342).
