Seven up: Michael Jung dominates Indoor Derby ahead of Mark Todd and Mrs and Mr Price

Competing in his “living room”, the Black Forest rider triumphed for the seventh time in the eventing Indoor Derby for the Prize of Walter solar. Riding his World Equestrian Games horse fischerRocana FST in front of a capacity 8,000 crowd at the 30th International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show, he finished almost three seconds – no penalties – to the good of “eventing legend” Sir Mark Todd in a time of 66.81 seconds.

Atop NZB Land Vision, the New Zealander stopped the clock at 69.51 seconds to relegate compatriots Jonelle and Tim Price to third and fourth respectively. Jonelle Price and her mare Classic Moet (70.12) narrowly came out top in the family duel with her husband Tim Price on Xavier Faer, an eight-year old gelding (70.76). Fifth was the Brazilian Carlos Eduardo Paro in the saddle on Baroque du V. (72.74). Double World Champion Sandra Auffarth (Germany) finished down the field in 12th (78.07) after knocking down an obstacle on her 13-year old gelding, The Blue Frontier.
