Three Germans out in front: Deußer claims Prize of XXL-Sicherheit ahead of Ahlmann and Wernke

Stuttgart – Late on Thursday night at the 32nd International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle, the 34-year old German Daniel Deußer claimed the against the clock class for the Prize of XXL-Sicherheit, the first of two qualifying competitions for the MERCEDES GERMAN MASTER on Friday evening. Riding his nine-year old mare Happiness van T Paradijs, the team bronze medal winner in Rio finished in a time of 58.83 seconds.


Fellow German and world No. 1 Christian Ahlmann came second on the nine-year old stallion Caribis Z (60.86) ahead of the 25-year old Jan Wernke, a member of the riders for the future squad, with the Holstein mare Queen Mary (61.79). Behind him in fourth was the first foreign rider, the Belgian Olivier Philippaerts who saddled the mare H&M Legend Of Love (61.80).

The quickest of the 49 contestants was Felix Haßmann (Germany) in 58.68 seconds. He however knocked down a fence and it left him with a total time of 62.68 and sixth place.
