First winners Lochthowe, Wolf and Schlüsselburg

Stuttgart – The favourites have already made their mark. Competing in the opening class at the 30th International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show, Hendrik Lochthowe won the first dressage competition for the Prize of iWest when scoring 71.263 per cent in front of a 6,300 crowd in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle on Wednesday afternoon. Like last year, he rode the gelding Meggle’s FS Lennox Louis on whom he placed third in 2013. After four qualifying events in the region, Lochthowe has this time come to Stuttgart as the leader of the series where, after a coming second last year in the final of the iWEST Dressage Cup, he is aiming to top the podium this time around. Second in the Intermediaire I class for local German riders was Vivien Niemann atop the 11-year old Hanoverian stallion Sil Jander (70.947) ahead of Aileen Day in the saddle on the Oldenburg stallion Destino D (69.895).

In the style jumping competition class M with a jump-off for juniors from the local state of Baden Württemberg, Marcel Wolf dominated the opposition when winning the NÜRNBERGER Burg Cup by a margin of two and a half seconds. A clear round in 30.12 seconds on Quattro’s Lewinjo handed him the win in the four-rider jump-off. Behind him in second was Lisa Maria Räuber, who, though faultless on her eight-year old Holstein gelding Cuyano, went round in a time of 32.76 seconds. Third was Johannes Mitsch on Rich Sunrise, his eight-year old grey mare.

Competing in the Prize of Schmidt Sporthandschuhe GmbH, Sven Schlüsselburg in the saddle on Quando tschi finished first with no faults in 59.82 seconds. Runner-up Mario Walter also went clear on Lancerto but could only manage a time of 61.13. Back in third was Hans-Dieter Dreher. The winner of the 2013 Grand Prix of Stuttgart this time rode Quiwi Dream, a nine-year old Holstein stallion (0/61.97).
