Though the sell-out 8,000 crowd in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle cheered on “Gold Michi” Michael Jung frenetically, the double Olympic champion, two-time World champion and six-time European champion in eventing narrowly missed out on the top prize when coming second on the stallion Der Dürer TSF in a time of 84.95 seconds. The 2011 and 2013 winner came third last year. Quickest around the combined course was Felix Haßmann (Germany) in 80.84 seconds but six penalties cost him the win.

Last year’s winner of the highly popular Jump and Drive contest, Mario Walter (Germany) recorded the second fastest time (81.36 seconds) but also incurred six penalties to finish sixth on FBW Charlotta.
