Comfortable win for Isabell Werth and her “gold horse” Weihegold OLD in World Cup freestyle

Stuttgart – Isabell Werth (Germany) has won the dressage freestyle in der Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle on six occasions. Riding at the 32nd International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show, she achieved the feat for the first time since the class became a part of the Reem Acra FEI World CupTM Dressage. Atop her Olympic gold medal winning horse Weihegold OLD, she was a comfortable winner in front of a capacity 8,000 crowd. She recorded 89.418 per cent using the new freestyle judging system and was over three points ahead of second placed Kristina Bröring-Sprehe (Germany) on Desperados FRH (86.306). The German 1-2-3 was completed by Fabienne Lütkemeier in the saddle on D’Agostino FRH (78.886).


“The mare was fantastic and she’s in the best form ever,” said the “Dressage Queen” when praising her “gold horse” in Rio and was particularly pleased with the “outstanding piaffe passage tour”. Kristina Bröring-Sprehe also mentioned her partner saying, “I was generally very satisfied with Desperados. He showed that he’s a real fighter even at the age of 15 and he’s really enjoying himself.” Fabienne Lütkemeier was, “Super happy with my third place. It was obvious for all to see that D’Agostino loves this arena.” 

After the third stopover in the Western European League Isabell Werth (40 points) has moved up the World Cup rankings to second just one point behind the leader Marcela Krinke Susmelj (41). The Swiss came sixth in Stuttgart (75.265). Kristina Bröring-Sprehe is in 17th with 17 points. Fabienne Lütkemeier is now sixth on 28 points.
