Nürnberger Burg-Pokal: Juniors in the spotlight

On Wednesday afternoon, right at the start of the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, dreams traditionally come true in the Schleyer-Halle. This is when the final of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal for show jumpers will take place.

After seven qualifications throughout Baden-Württemberg, 25 juniors will compete at M* level. Between the world stars, the youngsters from the region also have a firm place in the program at the GERMAN MASTERS. "The Nuremberg Burg Cup is a very special series for the young talents, as already the qualifying stages take place at selected, valuable shows. And they all want to qualify for the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, of course. I don't know any young rider who doesn't dream of riding into the Schleyer Hall one day," says national trainer Jürgen Kurz. The challenge for the majority of the finalists is to keep their nerve. Kurz: "As a rule, the juniors have never ridden in front of such a backdrop before. There is a lot of tension there!"

After Anastasia Wetzstein last stood at the top in 2019, Adrian Volckmann and Greta Völker won in the substitute finals of the past two years. As the best in points in the qualifications, Vanessa Kölz, niece of former BW Bank indoor champion Markus Kölz, comes to Stuttgart this time for the return of the GERMAN MASTERS. She takes her role as favorite calmly: "I just want to enjoy it and have fun at this unique tournament!"
