The BW Bank Indoor Championships return to the Schleyer-Halle

The fact that Baden-Württemberg's best show jumpers have a fixed place in the program of the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS is nothing new. In 1985, one year after the premiere of the horse show, Ewald Güss rode out of the course with "Sesa" as the winner in the first edition of the unofficial indoor state championship. Since then, the traditional show jumping event has gained in prestige year after year under the title sponsor, BW Bank. At prime time on Thursday evening, top sport is on offer in the BW Bank Indoor Championships.

After the replacement final in Bisingen in 2021, the BW-Bank Indoor Championships will return to its birthplace in 2022. The 25 most successful riders from four qualifications will meet in the 36th edition of the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. The jumping professional Armin Schäfer jun. from Mannheim will travel to the event as the rider with the most points from the qualifying stages. Just like multiple national champion Markus Kölz, eventing champion Michael Jung and successful Amazon Tina Deuerer, he is one of the close favorites. The "young guns" could provide the big surprise. Alia Knack and Lea-Sophia Gut - both of whom collected numerous medals in the junior camp - would like to dare to attack the established competitors.

"The BW Indoor Championships is an institution. It is the absolute highlight of the season at the end of the year," says Jürgen Kurz, state coach of the show jumpers. Even he finds it difficult to pick a winner in advance. Kurz: "They're all hot for it!"
