Mario Walter repeats equestrian triathlon win

Stuttgart – Number two for “Super-Mario” Walter as the local rider won the equestrian triathlon that kicked off the show section of the opening evening on Wednesday at the 39th STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show. Watched on by a 5,500 crowd in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle, he repeated his previous year’s win when going clear on DSP Cora de la Rosa W, hitting all five targets with a laser rifle and slaloming faster than his rivals in the farm buggy.

He stopped the clock in 86.77 seconds – first place ahead of Sönke Aldinger. Faultless when riding Grandorada E and when taking aim, the 29-year-old German took too long manoeuvring his utility vehicle around the pylons – in fact his total time of 96.21 was almost ten seconds slower. Third was the European champion Richard Vogel who made no mistakes jumping on Devilina Dacora but missed a target (97.89).

In a world away from the competitive side of equestrianism but one nevertheless with lustre, exquisite riding skills and emotionality, the famous “Mirage Español” show team from Portugal enchanted the Stuttgart crowd whisking them away into another sphere. Atop three greys, two women and a man rode around the arena circling the French artist Liska Llorca dancing barefoot in the sand expressing her emotions in bright colour on three enormous canvases. He pictures will now be sold and the proceeds will go to a charity dedicated to helping premature born babies.

Zoe Strohäker from nearby Herrenberg also repeated her win in the LILA LOVES IT dog agility competition. Together with her Shetland sheepdog “Ice”, she posted a time of 41.367 seconds – over six seconds quicker than her rivals – to secure herself the 2025 GERMAN MASTERS Agility Champion title.
