Four equestrian disciplines, three World Cup classes and an attractive programme of entertainment – the perfect mixture has been highly popular amongst fans for more than three decades and makes the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS one of the world’s top indoor horse shows. It means the 31st edition in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle from 18 to 22 November 2015 will once again be a meeting place for equestrian greats.
Amongst others, the European Champion Jeroen Dubbeldam, Olympic Champion Steve Guerdat, Kevin Staut and Penelope Leprevost are expected in Stuttgart. Stiff international opposition therefore awaits the German team that competed at the European Championships in Aachen. The STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS is a “home game” for “Hansi” Dreher who will naturally like to follow up his big win in 2013. There will also be a top class field for the FEI World Cup Driving class. European Champion Michael Brauchle will have his work cut out against Boyd Excell, Ijsbrand Chardon and Georg von Stein.
In the dressage arena, Isabell Werth – riding her nine-year old youngster Emilio – will attempt to retain her German Masters title. Fabienne Lütkemeier, last year’s World Cup winner in Stuttgart, will be up against teammates Sönke Rothenberger and Jessica von Bredow-Werndl. Diderick van Silfhout will make her debut in Stuttgart. The team European Champion will be one of the favourites along with Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, the individual freestyle bronze medal winner in Aachen.
New: spectator voting app
New this year is a free app enabling equestrian fans to also judge the performances in the dressage classes. “Though the scores will not be included in the official result, spectators can however see whether their assessment is right or not,” explained Jörg Klopfer, the spokesman of the in.Stuttgart Veranstaltungsgesellschaft.
Show and top class sport
Once again the organisers will present attractive shows and entertainment on the opening day – Wednesday, 18 November – as well as on the following four days of the horse show. The “Entertainment Evening” on Wednesday will begin at 7.00 pm local time with the highly-popular Jump and Drive when, after negotiating the jumping course on a horse, the stars in the saddle get behind the steering wheel – in seat belts naturally – of a Mercedes-Benz A-Class to absolve a slalom course peppered with obstacles. Spectators can be certain of a fantastic thrill a minute atmosphere.
Starting at 8.00 pm, the first display will be performed by shepherd Anne Krüger with her Border Collies and her ducks. The Egetemeyer family will present four-in-hands as well as a driving demonstration with five shire horses. The annual prize for the South German Master Stallion will this year go to Jessica von Bredow-Werndl’s Unee BB. The show programme will close with a performance by Quadras Miky Borras and der Club Hibic sa Creueta from Menorca who will also be appearing on the following days.
Spectators can then look forward to “Michi” Jung competing in the eventing Indoor Derby for the Prize of the Firma WALTER solar. The crowd favourite from nearby Horb caused quite a stir at the start of September by firstly falling and, as discovered two weeks later, breaking his ankle at the four-star event in Burghley – eventing’s “Wimbledon. Four hours later he won the competition by a comfortable margin on his Olympic horse Sam and then one week later proceeded to win two gold medals at the European Championship in Blair Castle, Scotland. He could no longer walk properly, only on crutches but riding “went quite well” said the double Olympic champion, double world champion and now six-time European champion with a wry smile on his face. He has also won the derby in Stuttgart on seven occasions.
