Asked by a journalist about the recipe for his success, the wryly smiling winner replied: “You never give away Grandma’s best recipe.” Continuing the Australian said, “Horsepower was decisive today.” Jérome Voutaz added: “It’s unbelievable driving here in such an atmosphere. You get the feeling that the Stuttgart crowd just loves our sport.” For Glenn Geerts, Boyd Exell is “unbeatable at the moment”. The runner-up was happy with his performance saying, “I was so happy to be in the drive-off.” Michael Brauchle called Exell a perfectionist and a “meticulous worker”. He then raved: “I know of no other indoor arena where the drivers are cheered on so loudly and so much.” The new course builder, Jerome Houterman from the Netherlands explained that he wanted his course to make “fast speeds” possible – something he certainly managed to do.
After the three legs in Lyon, Maastricht und Stuttgart, Boyd Exell also now heads the FEI World Cup standings on 20 points ahead of Ijsbrand Chardon (NED/17), Koos de Ronde (NED/12) and Jérome Voutaz (SUI/10). Other horse shows on the road to the World Cup final in Bordeaux (FRA) in February are Stockholm (SWE/24 - 27 November), Geneva (SUI/8 - 12 December), London (GBR/14 -19 December), Mechelen (BEL/26 - 30 December) and Leipzig (19 - 22 January 2023).
