Baden-Württemberg’s riders off to a good start

Stuttgart – (pbb) Family get-together at the prize giving – father Andreas Krieg (horse show director responsible for jumping) and sister Leonie Krieg (a hostess) congratulated the delighted winner Niklas Krieg (25) from the Black Forest town of Villingen-Schwenningen after the opening class for the Prize of Schmidt Sporthandschuhe GmbH. Atop the 15-year old Holstein mare Carella, the Nations Cup rider’s clear round in 59.42 handed him first place. The afternoon with three classes for riders from the state of Baden-Württemberg was watched by a total of 5,000 spectators.

For Niklas Krieg, who first caused a stir internationally when winning the 2016 Grand Prix of Leipzig, it was his first ever win in Stuttgart – his father had previously claimed the BW-Bank Indoor Championship back in 1997. Runner-up on Wednesday, the first day of the 35th STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, was Tabea Lausenmeyer and the 13-year old Baden-Württemberg bred mare Chuanita (0/59.89) ahead of Rossen Raytchev who was faultless in 61.63 seconds.

The finale of the NÜRNBERGER Burg Cup for the state’s junior show jumpers was an all-woman affair. It ended in a win for Anastasia Wetzstein, the second placed rider after the six qualifying classes in summer, in the saddle on the eight-year old Cuddy which crossed the finishing line in 39.97 seconds. The leading rider after the qualifying, Romy Gronau and the 11-year old Hanoverian gelding Charming Adlantus was second after going clear in 40.35 seconds. The quickest though was Annika Betz (39.64) but her Holstein mare dislodged a pole for 4 faults.

Second after the four qualifying classes in summer but now first in the opening dressage test for the Prize of iWEST. Anna Casper and her Baden-Württemberg bred stallion Birkhof’s Don Diamond FBW were victorious at the 35th International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle on Wednesday after being awarded 70.553 percent. She narrowly beat Anna-Louisa Fuchs in the saddle on Sympathikus, a 12-year old Hanoverian chestnut gelding (70.263). Third was the previous year’s winner Ann-Kathrin Linder on the Oldenburg mare Dulcia (69.711).
